Another great afternoon for Hapoel Hyde Park at Weetwood, as the team romped to another 4-0 win, maintaining their unbeaten start.
A fantastic team talk from manager Jasper van Veen before the game included some of the words from the Israeli manager of Red Star Belgrade- ‘We've never been beaten , we never lost, and we've never let our hearts go down’.
Club Legend Joel Walters made a return to the squad, playing Toby Anthony through early on, with his first attempt sent over the crossbar. Anthony redeemed himself minutes later with a great finish into the bottom corner,Putting Hapoel one up.
A great run from Jake Zemmel resulted in a penalty, which Jake Jason converted nicely to double Hapoel’s lead. Hapoel’s incredible start continued, with RaphaMaurer becoming the third goal scorer of the afternoon, after the ball hit the post and was smashed home before the break.
Hapoel had several big chances in the second half, trying to increase their lead but after the post was struck several times the score remained unchanged. A fabulous ball from loan centre-back Roye Chitiyat reached Jonathan Daniel, who showed great skill in beating a defender and curled his shot into the bottom corner.
A brilliant tackle from Zemmel at the death kept the clean sheet intact for Hapoel. Another 3 points, clean sheet and a good performance impressed van Veen , as Hapoel remained unbeaten at the top of the league, heading into next week’s derby.
