This week’s community piece focuses on Debbie Colton, founder of a new north London based netball team Mill Hill Meteors.
Debbie Colton, an international games medallist and Level 2 Netball coach, has a background steeped in both competitive play and coaching. Debbie used her experience to launch Mill Hill Meteors, catering to the high demand from 18–35-year-olds for further netball opportunities within the community.
Having transitioned from a successful 20-year career in PR and marketing, Debbie's love for netball never waned. Whilst living in Hong Kong, she seized the opportunity to retrain as a netball coach, joining the Kowloon Pearls and participating in the competitive Hong Kong League.
After returning to the UK in 2018, Debbie immersed herself in coaching roles within schools and clubs. Her dedication to the sport led her to represent Great Britain in the 2022 Maccabiah Games in Israel.
Last year, Debbie’s commitment to the Jewish sports community was rewarded when she was selected to be the British delegation’s flag bearer at the Maccabi Pan American Games.
Debbie’s Mill Hill Meteors offer 2-hour training sessions on Monday evenings from 8-10pm. This provides a place for players to develop their skills under expert guidance and creates an opportunity to socialise and make new connections whilst playing sport.
The sessions are laying the groundwork for entry into Sunday leagues later in 2024.
For those eager to be part of a vibrant and competitive netball community, join Mill Hill Meteors as they build a new squad to train and compete.
