Another great afternoon for Hapoel Hyde Park . A 6-2 win made it three wins out of three, sending them straight to the top of the league. Questions were asked on manager Jasper van Veen’s lineup on Wednesday, opting to start Sam Clarfield at striker instead of his usual position at centre back.
Van Veen and Hapoel got off to a dream start as Clarfield scored the first goal of the game. A great free kick delivered by Josh Morris was smashed home by Jake Zemmel to double their lead.
Jasper's decisions looked to be paying off as Eytan Millan ran down the wing and then played it across to Clarfield who scored once again, making it three.
The opposition were able to pull one back just before half time with a good finish, as Hapoel conceded their first goal of the season, in what had been a dominant first-half performance.
Toby Mandel made it 4-1 after a quiet start to the second half, heading home Josh Morris’s free kick. The opposition however quickly pulled one back, with a close range from their striker.
The pressure was on Hapoel again as their opponents had another chance , but the header went over the bar and the score remained 4-2.
Hapoel responded quickly, adding their fifth goal of the game, effectively putting it to bed, courtesy of Jake Zemmel (his second of the match).
A Managerial masterclass from van Veen , as a big risk seemed to pay off with Clarfield getting his hat trick - A brilliant strike that hit the bar and rolled over the line , wrapped up the match with another three points for Hapoel.
Van Veen reiterated post match how much he trusts his team and how much he believes in them.
Hatrick hero Clarfield praised his manager for the team selection, appreciating the opportunity he was given.
