Ben Conway

A Brilliant Event raising money for Children of Peace, a charity helping to build bridges during the difficult times occurring in Israel, In memory of Joshua Carr and Nathanel Young.

Leeds Jsoc and Birmingham Jsoc face each other in 3 different events these being; Women's football, Men's football, and Netball.

Women's Football

The First event of an action-packed day was Hapoel Hyde Park Women versus Maccabi Selly Oak Women. Birmingham won 9-2 with a great performance and whilst showing great determination in their first game Leeds were unable to win.

The main talking point came from the build-up to the game. This fixture was the first established University match between two Jewish women's football teams.

Maccabi Selly Oak Women were also the first University Jewish women's football team in the UK, having formed last May. Hapoel Hyde Park women were created in October and despite not playing together as much as Selly Oak, the team are training with each other frequently.

Both Teams were created to give more women the chance to play football whilst being at university.

Recently Selly Oak was able to announce a partnership with Her Game Too - An Organisation to create a safe space for all women to enjoy football and play football safely and freely.

Hapoel have also announced a new kit sponsor that they wore during the game. Jewish Camps USA is a big organization that allows Jews to have the ultimate experience in America during the summer.

Maccabi Selly Oak are the first Jewish women's charity match winners but despite the loss for Leeds, there is determination and growth to build in the future, with more games to come!

Men's Football

The last time these two teams met in Birmingham the game ended 1-1 and Birmingham won on penalties, Leeds Jsoc is on home turf and will be looking for revenge.

Hapoel Got off to a great start, With an early Penalty converted by Jonothan Daniel making it 1-0.

Selly Oak tried to get back into the game with some chances but Jamie Margolis, the Leeds keeper, made good saves keeping the score 1-0.

Great football as Selly Oak were able to beat the Hapoel defence, Marc Smith delivered a good ball, and with an even better header, JJ Rubinoff leveled the score.

The First half ended level and Birmingham managed to hold Leeds to a draw at Boddington.

Just a few chances for both teams in the early minutes of the second half but the most memorable was a good effort from Selly Oak which forced Josh Bull into making a good save.

A wonderful ball played in behind Josh Davo which left him Jonothan Daniel 1 on 1 against the goalkeeper. J.Daniel Slotted it home making it 2-1 to the hosts with 25 minutes to go.

After being behind for minutes, Marc Smith delivered another brilliant ball which was headed in by Josh Saipe, making the game level for the second time.

A crucial goal-line block from Hapoel defender Toby Mandel kept them in the game which sent them to penalties.

Hapoel traveled to Birmingham and just fell short, with an Eytan Millan miss leading to Selly Oak winning the Penalty shootout.

Roye Chitiyat Stepped up first to take and made it 1-0 for Leeds

A good save from Josh Bull gave Hapoel the advantage

Both of the next two penalties were scored making it 2-1 to Leeds after 4 pens

Hapoel missed their next pen giving Selly Oak a lifeline, but they then missed their next pen.

After the next set of pens, the score was 3-2 to Hapoel Hyde Park.

Jonathan Daniel stepped up, giving Hapoel the chance to win their first charity match.

Scoring twice in the game, J. Daniel was full of confidence and smashed it in, winning the game for Hapoel Hyde Park and getting their revenge from November last year.

Netball

The day concluded with the Netball Match.

Another exciting event and Birmingham came out on top once again beating Leeds 33-14

After raising £3000 in March in their Charity day versus Nottingham Jsoc, Leeds Jsoc was able to come out on top and win 40-31 in a tense game.

This time out a tireless performance from Birmingham won them the game.

It was a brilliant match, with a fantastic atmosphere spurring both teams on during the game.

Birmingham also beat Nottingham Netball last year and as they grow stronger and bigger they continue to win the Inter-Jsoc matches.

Despite their loss - The Leeds Jsoc netball team has positive vibes whilst developing weekly competing in the Netball social league and most recently beating Physoc 38-17.

A brilliant day filled with sports for a great cause.
