Brand New Heights for Jewish Lacrosse

Nottingham University Lacrosse sensation, Izzy Brand is not your standard athlete. With a remarkable journey that began at 12 that has now led her to England’s First Team. Izzy’s story is one of hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport she adores. Her undefeated streak at Nottingham, a win on her senior debut in 2022, and a tour of the USA to challenge Division 1 teams such as Duke University has set her on a path to ultimately completing her dream of competing in the Olympics for England.



Early Day’s-


She began her journey at 12 years old at NLCS, from the start it was clear she had something special about the way she performed on the pitch, when she eventually joined Nottingham University as a student with a scholarship program, she was selected for the first team whilst in first year and became an integral part of the team.


Over the several years she has played for the team her instrumental role has been pivotal for them to remain undefeated, they are 2x BUCS champions and hopefully are going to make that three this year, in addition, Durham were undefeated for 8 years until they played Izzy’s Nottingham Team. Her commitment to the squad and her passion for the game combine to create a winning formula that are impossible to defeat.



England –


In 2022, Izzy achieved a lifelong dream of hers when she made her senior debut for England, within her first year of her debut she was a Six Nations Cup Winner at just 19 and is now a regular starter within the first team. The team have just returned from a tour of the USA where they played six American Teams in Friendlies, teams such as Division 1 sports university powerhouse Duke were involved, they won 3, lost 2, and drew 1 against the some of the top sporting universities in the world. It allowed her to gain experience, challenge her skills and gain valuable exposure to different styles of play.


The Dream –


While she has already achieved a huge amount of success in her career so far, her dreams are far from over. Like every athlete her dream is to play in the Olympics, her natural talents have brought her so close to the reaching this it would seem unfathomable if she is not selected. Her journey from a 12 year old in North West London to then representing her country in Germany next year would be inspiring for young female Lacrosse players worldwide. Her commitment to the sport is second to none, she trains 7 days a week to continually improve her skills and maintain the top-level performance she needs to be able to reach her aspirations. What sets Izzy apart is her work ethic, she understands the importance of striking a balance between her training schedule and maintaining the social connections you need to make at university to enjoy yourself.


With her Eyes set on the Olympic games, there is no doubt that we will be hearing much more about Izzy brands incredible achievements in the world of Lacrosse in the years to come.
